Fòcara It all begins with a stele of vines that become bundles of firewood, people pass them over their shoulders, one on top of the other. Here… the Fòcara with a spark lights the fire that makes the flame grow in our eyes. Light the fire… so that we can hear the noise of the Fòcara and the smell of gunpowder emanating from the fireworks. We look up at the sparks that fly in the sky towards the stars and the moon. We imagine thunder and lightning, and yet people laugh and dance for the gods and demons. The farmers pray to St. Anthony the Abbot to make next year go better.
