The Network, as an all-round cultural laboratory, operates in the field of safeguarding and sustainable enhancement of the intangible cultural heritage, the promotion of cultural rights, the protection and promotion of the diversity of cultural expressions, bringing the principles of the Convention to the knowledge of the communities UNESCO of 2003 and the Faro Convention on the Value of Cultural Heritage. The heritage communities of Brindisi Montagna (Potenza), Calvello (Potenza), Campobasso, Cerami (Enna), Collelongo (L’Aquila) will be present at the event promoted by the ICPI ), Fara Filiorum Petri (Chieti), Genzano di Lucania (Potenza), Macerata Campania (Caserta), Novara di Sicilia (Messina), Novoli (Lecce), Oppido Lucano (Potenza), Pedara (Catania), Ranverso (Turin), San Mauro Forte (Matera) and Trivigno (Potenza). The fifteen municipalities scattered in different regions, from north to south, together to share the common elements of the celebration: From fire, to festive food and then move on to the primitive music performed by bottari. There are many traditions linked to its cult which in their uniqueness represent a significant part of the intangible cultural heritage of Italy and of the whole world. The ICPI has offered its support to the Network since its establishment, with the aim of defining with the community growth paths in awareness of the value of a volatile heritage such as that of festive events. All of this above all with the ultimate aim of identifying the best safeguarding practices to be adopted and identifying methods of promotion and enhancement that can have positive effects on the territories.
