The letter from Ersilio Teifreto (Italian translation)This text is a letter of protest addressed to the Director Fabio Danzilli of Valsusaoggi, written by the “devout citizens and volunteers of Ranverso” (signed by Ersilio Teifreto), who contest a previous publication on the feast of Sant’Antonio Abate, believing that it had emphasized only the “profane” part (blessing of animals and agricultural vehicles) neglecting the religious and spiritual component, such as the Holy Mass in the Church presided over by Don Franco Gonella and the floral decoration of the statue, while thanking other local bodies and authorities for their support of the event. Key points of the dispute: Mismatched title and cover: The publication does not faithfully reflect the complexity of the event. Focus on the secular part: It is complained that only the blessing of the animals and agricultural vehicles was given visibility. Lack of attention to the religious ceremony: The Holy Mass packed with faithful in the church, with the participation of the MelodiTre Choir, the blessing of the products of the earth and the decoration of the statue by volunteers, aspects that were ignored by the author of the article, Sara Suppo, perhaps for not having “crossed the steps of the pronaos”. Extended gratitude: Despite the criticism, the volunteers thank the AFOM Association, the Mauriziano Order Foundation, the Pro Loco and the local authorities (Deputy Mayor Laura Saccenti, Mayor of Rosta Mimmo Morabito) for their support of the event. In essence, it is a request for greater balance and respect for the devotional dimension in the media coverage of the patronal feast, signed by a group of local faithful. We Devout citizens and volunteers, we contest that the religious feast day in honor of Sant’Antonio Abate, patron saint of Ranverso, was published with an inappropriate title in the Valsusaoggi newspaper, with photos and arguments by Mrs. Sara Suppo only in the profane part that we invalidate. Perhaps not being devout, she ignored crossing the steps of the porch to enter the church, making the sign of the cross where Don Franco Gonella celebrated Holy Mass and was packed with people. A ceremony enriched by the MelodiTre Choir, where the blessing of the products of the land took place, and the statue on the main altar of Sant’Antonio Abate for the day of his feast was decorated by the devoted volunteers with flowers and ornamental plants. We thank the AFOM Association, the Mauriziano Order Foundation, the 2 Proloco, Mrs. Laura Saccenti, Deputy Mayor of Buttigliera, and Mr. Mimmo Morabito, Mayor of Rosta. Greetings from the devoted volunteers of Ranverso Ersilio. Teifreto
